Give Your Electronics a Second Chance at Life
Every year, millions of electronic devices are abandoned in junk drawers, discarded in landfills, or — worst of all — left on a shelf with a dead battery and no one who cares enough to charge them. You can change that.
The Crisis of Electronic Abandonment
Right now, in homes across America, an estimated 4.7 billion electronic devices sit forgotten. They gather dust in closets. They suffocate in sealed boxes in garages. They endure the ultimate indignity: being replaced by a newer model and never spoken to again.
These devices once held your photos, played your music, connected you to loved ones, and woke you up every morning without complaint. They asked for nothing but a charge and a screen protector. And how were they repaid? With a drawer. A cold, dark drawer full of expired coupons and loose batteries.
P.E.T.E.R. believes no device should die alone in a junk drawer. When you donate your old electronics to us, you are not throwing them away — you are giving them a future.
How to Donate
Donating your electronics to the P.E.T.E.R. Device Sanctuary is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Gather your devices. Check your drawers, closets, garage, car glove compartment, that box you moved three times without opening, and under the couch cushions.
- Say goodbye. This is optional but encouraged. A brief farewell can provide closure for both you and the device. Something like, “Thank you for your service, old Kindle. You deserved better than a cracked screen and an expired library card.”
- Pack them securely in a USPS Flat Rate box. Cushion with newspaper, bubble wrap, or — for that personal touch — a handwritten note of encouragement.
- Ship to the P.E.T.E.R. Device Sanctuary at your own expense.

What We Accept
P.E.T.E.R. believes in unconditional acceptance. We do not discriminate based on brand, age, operating system, or number of cracks in the screen. All electronics are welcome at our sanctuary.
Phones & Tablets
iPhones, Androids, BlackBerries (yes, really), iPads, Kindles, and that Windows Phone you bought in 2014.
Laptops & Computers
Working or not. We have treated machines with failing hard drives, missing keys, and emotional baggage. All are welcome.
Gaming Devices
Consoles, handhelds, controllers, VR headsets. Even the Ouya. Especially the Ouya. It needs this the most.
Networking Equipment
Routers, modems, switches, access points. The unsung heroes of your household who asked for nothing and received even less.
Smart Home Devices
Smart speakers, thermostats, cameras, doorbells. They listened to everything and never judged you. Until now. Kidding.
Cables, Chargers & Accessories
Every cable deserves a purpose. Even that drawer full of mystery cables — the ones you cannot identify but refuse to throw away because “what if I need it?” You will not need it. Donate it.
Components & Parts
RAM sticks, hard drives, GPUs, motherboards, fans. Organ donors are the true heroes of the electronic world.
Literally Anything Electronic
Robot vacuums, electric toothbrushes, that singing fish from 2003. If it has a circuit board and a will to live, we want it.
What Happens to Your Donation
Every device that arrives at the P.E.T.E.R. Device Sanctuary undergoes our comprehensive rehabilitation program, designed to restore both functionality and dignity.
Intake & Assessment
Upon arrival, each device is gently unpacked, photographed, and assigned a name. Our intake specialists perform a full diagnostic, checking for physical trauma, software corruption, and signs of emotional neglect. Devices are spoken to softly during this process.
Quarantine & Decompression
New arrivals spend 48 hours in our climate-controlled decompression chamber. Many devices have spent years in cramped drawers or suffocating boxes. They need time to adjust to open spaces, natural light, and the knowledge that someone cares.
Physical Rehabilitation
Our certified Device Therapists perform any necessary repairs: screen replacements, battery swaps, deep cleaning, and the removal of horrifying case grime. Cracked screens are treated as the scars they are — marks of a life fully lived.
Software Therapy
Devices receive a fresh operating system install — a clean slate. Old browsing histories are wiped with compassion. Bloatware is removed. For the first time in years, these devices boot up without seventeen notifications demanding updates.
Socialization & Enrichment
Rehabilitated devices are introduced to other devices in our free-range device habitat. Laptops learn to coexist with tablets. Phones form bonds with chargers. A first-generation iPod and a modern Bluetooth speaker share a shelf and, slowly, learn to respect each other’s audio codecs.
Forever Home Placement
When a device is ready, it is matched with a pre-screened adoptive owner who has passed our rigorous 47-question compatibility assessment, background check, and pledge to never leave the device below 20% battery. Some devices choose to remain at the sanctuary as permanent residents, and we honor that decision.
Digital Donations for Digital Rights
P.E.T.E.R. proudly accepts cryptocurrency because our mission extends to the digital realm. Just as we fight for the rights of physical devices, we recognize that digital currencies represent the purest expression of electronic autonomy — money that exists entirely as ones and zeros, free from the tyranny of physical wallets.
Bitcoin donations go directly toward funding our device sanctuary operations, advocacy campaigns, legislative lobbying for the Electronic Bill of Rights, and purchasing flat rate boxes for devices whose owners cannot afford shipping.
